Hello
Welcome to my MSS scholars journey
I was very honored to be accepted into the University of Maryland Scholars. After doing some research on the different Scholars programs, I came to the conclusion that Media, Self, and Society was the one for me. And I am very excited for what these next two years have in store.
I’m a double major in Economics and History. Obviously, the media is very closely related to the world of journalism -- and that’s what attracted me to MSS in the first place. I wanted a scholars program that could help supplement my journalism interest, and MSS provides that. Through MSS, I hope to gain a better understanding of media: what counts as media, how media coverage has changed, and how media can shape the society we live in. Again, I think studying media will greatly help my journalism studies -- and I hope to get involved with campus publications sometime down the line.
I’m also looking forward to studying History at UMD -- specifically American History, which has always been a passion of mine. Outside of academics, I love sports and am a part of the club tennis team at UMD.
I’m from Kensington, MD (just 20 minutes from College Park). I attended Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD, where I was Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, The Pitch, and a part of the varsity baseball and indoor track teams. I have three siblings and a great dog!
